ACL-8216
High Resolution Multi-Function DAS Card

Introduction

The ACL-8216 is a low cost, high resolution (16-bit) multi-function data acquisition card for ISA bus PC, AT or compatibles. The heart of the ACL-8216 is 16-bit A/D converter which provides high accuracy at low cost. It is suitable for high precision monitoring system in industrial applications.

Features

A/D Conversion

This card provides 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog channels of 16-bit resolution. An instrumentation amplifier with software programmable gain can be configured for voltage gains of 1, 2, 4 and 8. The A/D conversion can be triggered three ways: software trigger, internal timer pacer and external trigger. The transfer of converted data can also be accomplished in three ways: software polling, interrupt (through ISR), and DMA. All modes can be selected by software.

DC-to-DC Converter

To reduce RFI and EMI noise and assure accuracy on sensitive analog inputs. Analog circuitry is powered from an on-board DC-to-DC converter that provides high noise isolation from the power of the computer system.

D/A Conversion

Two channels of multiplying 12-bit double-buffered analog inputs are provided on the ACL-8216. An on-board -5V internal reference voltage is used to provide analog output in the range 0~5V. With an external AC to DC reference, it can generate outputs 0~5V or 0~10V.

Digital I/O

There are 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs allowing the ACL-8216 to interface to a variety of digital signals through two 20-pin dual-in-line connectors.

Timer/Counter

A 3-channel programmable interval timer (8253 or 8254) on-board provides timing for the A/D or can be used to generate frequency outputs at any rate from 2MHz to 0.00046Hz.
