PC Datak(tm) Printed Circuit Board Design Software
Produce High Quality, Professional Grade,
Printed Circuit Boards on any IBM/PC Compatible.
What is PCDATAK(TM)? The PCDATAK(TM) program is a CAD system for designing and producing
printed circuit boards. It allows the user to make his schematic circuit into a printed circuit layout file and
to use that file to print PC board artwork that is used to produce a finished PC board, solder masks
and component side I.D. silk screens.
Who uses PCDATAK(TM)? The software has been designed for use by nearly anyone wanting to
make a PC board, either in quantity or in prototype lots, at a software cost low enough for nearly
anyone's pocket. Additionally, PCDATAK(TM) software may be used to create a circuit that can be
produced from your disk file by a professional PC board manufacturing company: International
Design Modeling of Bedford, NH (particulars are in the manual introduction). This may be of special
interest to users requiring either large quantities or prototyping very complex boards.
What can PCDATAK(TM) do? The software can produce either a single sided or double sided PC
board up to 30" x 30" in size. Industry accepted component pad and trace sizes are preset or the user
may also customize the software for any desired components. Component identification silk screen
art and solder mask art are also produced.
How do I print the circuit? PCDATAK(TM) circuits may be printed (or copied on a copy machine)
directly onto a clear carrier sheet, such as those made for overhead projectors, and then used as a
1:1 "positive" in making a PC board. A
Postscript(TM) compatible laser printer may be used: ordinary
dot matrix and ink jet printers will not work. If you do not have a
Postscript(TM) printer, call your local copy center where you can very likely take your circuit on a disk and
print it for a moderate fee.
PCDATAK(TM) system requirements: Nearly any IBM-PC or compatible with a minimum of 640K on
board memory may be used. A hard disk is mandatory as is a 3.5" disk drive. A mouse will make the job
much easier and is strongly recommended.

Circuit-Fix(TM) PC Board Trace Maker
The CIRCUIT-FIX system has been designed to allow you to cut accurate, burr-free copper
foil traces for PC boards for the purpose of adding to or repairing a circuit board. CIRCUIT-FIX
is a handy system whether for prototype modifications or for circuit repairs.
The system centers on a spring-loaded clamp and cutting guide that permits excellent
trace cutting with a modeling knife. Both the knife and a sheet of self adhesive copper
trace material are included. Also included is a sheet of (assorted sizes) pure copper
self-adhesive donut pads. The cut trace and donuts are burnished to the board and then soldered
to component leads.

TINNIT (TM) Electroless Bright Tin Plate
TINNIT is designed to plate bare copper circuit boards to enhance solderability. It has
also been used to plate edge card connector fingers on prototypes when a low, stable
contact resistance is needed, but gold is not available or desired. The one pint size of TINNIT will
plate up to 600 square inches of copper with approximately 0.0004" of bright tin. Plating is
complete after about 10 minutes in a fresh solution. Adhesion and solderability are excellent.
No electricity is required; the material tends to plate any metal that is chemically more
active than tin and is not ozidized by the plating bath. TINNIT has been successfully used to
plate brass, bronze, iron and some carbon steels. The material is supplied as a dry mixture with
an indefinite shelf life. When mixed with water, the solution has a life of approximately
two months. You need add no acid or other materials to this solution. TINNIT contains all
plating chemicals plus surfactants and cleaners to insure a perfect plate.

blank copper board, then develop and etch it. Like
to build magazine projects? Make a film positive
and negative from the magazine PC art illustration, expose
your sensitized copper board and etch. The magazine page is
not destroyed in this process. No darkroom or camera is
required. Circuits may also be direct-etched as with the ER-1.
All necessary materials are included - steel 5" x 6" print
frame, Pos-Neg film, film processing pack, yellow filter, 4 oz.

DIRECT ETCH (TM)
Printed Circuit Set
Make printed circuit boards with no artwork! You "wire" the actual circuit
by rubbing down dry transfer etch resist patterns right on copper clad
board. Connect patterns with dry transfer lines or etch resist tape, etch in
ferric chloride solution and in a few minutes, the finished copper circuit can
be drilled and loaded with components.
What makes this possible is the dry transfer resist material. It's
special plastic ink that's unaffected by aqueous etchants and most
industrial solvents. Etch resolution is superb. Resist lines down to 0.015" etch
cleanly with about 0.001" total undercut in a still etch bath; even better results
are achieved in a spray etch tank. The same plastic ink is also used in many
1X JotDraft patterns. This includes edge card connectors, precision
spaced donuts, and continuous SOT, SOIC and DIP patterns. Use some or all of
them to fabricate complex, one-of-a-kind designs with ease.
The DIRECT ETCH set includes a huge assortment of resist
patterns: universal DIP's, assorted size donuts, transistors, round can IC's, dry
transfer lines, resist tape (.062" and .031"). four blank copper boards, a 1/4
pound of dry ferric chloride etchant and complete instructions. Materials
are packed in a plastic storage box that doubles as an etch tray.

PCB Manual

Making Your Own Printed Circuit Boards, by Jon Varteresian is a comprehensive 38 page guide to the
basics of making your own positive printed circuit boards. Simple, easy to undertand instructions
include: (1)Generation of artwork, (2)Exposing and developing the resist layer, (3)Etching, (4)Tin plating,
(5)Drilling and shaping PCBs are included in simple language supported by diagrams and pictures.
Also explained is the "reasoning" behind what you are doing so the reader may develop an overall comprehension of the
technology behind photo resist and PCB layout work. Additionally, the author includes simple plans for the reader
to build his own exposure cone and exposure frame from easy to find hardware store material. At the end of the manual
is a resource list detailing where various printed circuit supplies may be purchased. Finally, a two page
glossary of common PCB terms is included to help the reader understand and converse about PCB fabrication.
